Mobilisation

Foot mobilisation

Foot mobilisation is a technique used to help release and improve the range and quality of motion in the ankle and foot joints.

It is well known that joint stiffness affects the maximum working capacity of the lower leg muscles and which may lead to discomfort and pain in the lower limb.

Foot mobilisation involves a combination of special mobilising techniques applied to the foot joints and may include the occasional use of an impactor and recommended exercises prescribed by your podiatrist.

What should patients expect

  1. The rate of improvement varies between patients; some patients may initially experience an increase in pain initially.
  2. Treatment requires a twice weekly appointment for around 6 weeks and will include home exercises.
